My favorite way to use Wax resist in floral motifs- A peak into my Ink and Brusho floral class

I don't know about you, but I know that I have spent lots of time wishing I had preserved by whites when painting. Although masking fluid is a staple in my art toolbox, I also have a simple solution for when I want to make a quick background in brusho and watercolor, and yet have it look natural.

I use a white crayon, or a wax resists crayon. That way I can draw or doodle my image. For this example, it's a wild daisy, that I wanted the white to be the focal point in the image. To preserve the white I needed something strong and natural-looking. The white crayon can give you the look you are looking for.

Enjoy my short video showing how I use a white crayon or wax resists to save my whites.

I am a contributing artist at the Fine Art Cafe Acadamy. This is part of a lesson with the Wild Daisy- in the Class, you can find line drawings, how to use ink in your florals, and all-around learn how to use ink and brusho together.  The class Floral with ink and Brusho is full of great ways to use your reference photos, and how to make a floral composition. I also share how I like to doodle and use those doodle sketches to make floral motifs and art.  This class is perfect for anyone who has wanted to try and paint florals but hasn't yet. I take you step by step, and even provide you with a line drawing of each floral I am painting.

Jan Hacket- who has been a great mentor to me has said this about the class, and about how I teach "artist Lisa Christensen brings this fun and meditative floral course using ink in different forms. Florals can be a challenge to paint using watercolor, but Lisa shows how fun and easy you can to learn to create your own florals. This course is meant to foster creativity and help you learn to use inks in a variety of ways. Please join Lisa as she finds inspiration from her own photos from her garden."
